Bahrain International Circuit is set to come alight with yet another exciting round of autocross tonight (Friday, September 11).

Following the success of the previous event held during the first weekend of Ramadan, more drivers and spectators are expected to gather at ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’ for what promises to be another evening of supremely competitive racing from some of the region’s best drivers.
The event has been organized by the Bahrain Motor Federation, and is represented by Bahrain’s Circuit Racing Club.

The first autocross meeting proved to be a huge success, with winners crowned in four different competition categories.
Filippo Egizii driving a Renault Clio Sport took first place in the Stock A class with a fastest time of 46.592secs, while Shaikh Ebrahim Al Khalifa driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI claimed first place in Stock B with a best drive of 47.364secs.

In the Modified A category, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa driving a Honda Civic hatchback took the win with a quickest mark of 43.222secs, and in Modified B, Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chief Operating Officer at Bahrain International Circuit, put on a dominant performance in claiming the top spot with a fastest run of 41.641secs in his Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

CRC has allocated attractive cash prizes for tonight’s competition, to be awarded to the top three in each division. First place gets 50 BD, second takes away 30 BD and third place goes home with 10 BD.

Those interested in taking part in the autocross action may fill in entry forms at the venue itself between 9 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. Friday night. All participants must have at least a D Competition License from Bahrain Motor Federation, and must pay a 10 BD entry fee.
Racing will be held along a specially erected course at the circuit car park, with spectator seating just meters away from the action to give fans a truly exciting and up-close experience at the one and only ‘Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’.

All drivers will be required to adhere to the specific rules and regulations before taking part. All must also go through a series of checks on their cars to ensure that they meet the safety standards. These include making sure that the car is free of any leaks or tyre damage, the windows are in good and working condition, the driver’s seat belt is functioning properly, and the removal of any tools or equipment in the car that may be hazardous to the driver while competing. Any external features that may be potentially dangerous to spectators must also be taken off.
All are welcome to attend tonight’s events, free of charge.
