BIC, Sakhir – Monday, October 20, 2008:

Drivers hoping to participate in the new season of the Batelco 2000CC Challenge will have their chance to acquire a National ‘C’ License at Bahrain International Circuit this Thursday, it was announced today.

Organized by the Bahrain Motor Federation and Bahrain International Circuit, the training session will be open to Bahraini nationals and residents wishing to join in the new season of the Batelco 2000CC Challenge due to take place alongside the upcoming Gulf Air Desert 400 V8 Supercars Race this November 6-7-8.

With only weeks to go until Bahrain International Circuit plays host to the Gulf Air Desert 400 V8 Supercars Race for the third consecutive year, the Batelco 2000CC Challenge will be among one of the various support races due to take place on the race weekend. Having seen a successful first season in 2007-2008, the Batelco 2000CC Challenge has quickly picked up popularity as one of the very few affordable self-built 2-litre series and will see many more participants on the grid this year.

Training will commence from the hours of 8am through to 5pm on Thursday and will see all-Bahraini instructors lead the sessions. Drivers will need to bring their manual cars along with them and will need to pass the training session in order to qualify for a ‘C’ license and be awarded a certificate which will need to be submitted to the Bahrain Motor Federation along with their medical certificate and a completed application form which can be downloaded off their website (www.bmf.com.bh) to apply.
