The drivers are set and ready to go for the sixth round of the Batelco 2000CC Challenge tomorrow, Friday, 25 April, which will see fiercer competition at Bahrain International Circuit.

As the competition is heating up, drivers Ali Al Kobaisi, Rashed Al Jowder and Michael Spahn, expressed their delight to be aboard the hugely successful regional championship, organised by the Bahrain Motor Federation.

On the upcoming round, Ali Al Kobaisi highlighted that he was preparing to battle out yet another round of the debut season this coming Friday, aboard his Honda CRX. Having started out in his Mini Cooper, the race car driver soon opted to work on modifying the Honda to kit it out for the season. Having seen great skill in driving and modifying work to Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa’s advantage, more will be required to make it to the front line. Al Kobaisi also added that he would be looking to make it on the leader board but was focusing more on improving his car, ready for next season’s competition.

As for Bahraini young-gun Rashed Al Jowder, he was thrilled to be driving alongside some of the nation’s greats, in his debut motor sport performance. He also added that the reasonable cost of modifying his car and cooperation received so far, both from the title sponsor Batelco and Bahrain International Circuit, greatly helped him. Al Jowder highlighted that the monetary prizes also encouraged the drivers to compete on a great level, and what the drivers have already collected has greatly contributed to them modifying their vehicles. Al Jowder added that he looked forward to the remaining rounds of the season, regardless of the technical difficulties which they may face as the summer begins to encroach. He also looked forward to a successful and highlighted that he would need a more powerful engine and better breaking system to make it as one of the front-runners and would be focusing more on preparing his car ready for next season.

Experienced driver on the Bahrain International Circuit, Michael Spahn, expressed his delight to be participating in the championship aboard his Mini Cooper. He added that he was thrilled to be racing in a highly competitive Challenge, and was looking forward to scoring more points to help him hold onto second position, next to current lead Shaikh Salman bin Isa. Spahn did not reveal his plans for next year but hinted that he would be making a return in full-force as he looked forward to modifying his car to pick up more wins.
