The CRC-organised Batelco 2000CC Challenge looks good to go this weekend, during its sixth round, as fiercer competition and more excitement gets set to hit the inner track at Bahrain International Circuit.
Having seen the Challenge gain in popularity in its debut season, more drivers have been seen jumping onboard as they attempt to steal the lead from Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, currently in first place with 247 points.
Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Motor Federation, highlighted that the Batelco 2000CC Challenge is one of the CRC’s most successful of new championships. He added that the season had witnessed a significant growing interest with drivers continuing to join the series throughout the season. He continued to say that the Batelco-sponsored Challenge had created a solid foundation as another all-new exciting national series and developments were being made to try and accommodate for the many more motor sport enthusiasts wishing to jump in the driver’s seat.
Shaikh Abdulla also stressed that to be eligible for competing, drivers would need to hold a National C class license, provided by BMF in association with BIC and CRC. He also wished the drivers all the best and a successful season which would move motor sport culture in the Kingdom forward.
As for Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chief Operating Officer at BIC, he stressed that the successes that the Batelco 2000CC Challenge had achieved were positive for national motor racing. He added that the growing number of participants and increased competition throughout the championship gave a positive outlook on next season. He also added that with the championship being open to all motor sport enthusiasts wishing to get on the track, this was an opportunity for all fans to develop their skills at car racing as the Challenge continues to make its mark in the Kingdom.
CRC President, Mazen Al-Hilli, extended his warmest thanks and appreciation to all those who had contributed to the success of the Challenge, namely the title-sponsors from Batelco, as well as from BMF and its president Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also added that the Challenge would not be where it is today without the cooperation and continued support from BIC.
