The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) is all set for fierce competition as drivers gear up to the fifth round of the BIC 2000CC Challenge today.

Set to take place from 9am – 6pm today, intense competition and more excitement are on the card as drivers in both categories ‘A’ and ‘B’ hit the track.

During the fourth round, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, set his own pace right from the start and cruised his way to first place in both races in his Honda Civic. Racing in the ‘A’ category, Shaikh Hamad secured his lead with 150 points at the end of that round, ahead of second place runner up Tim Birkin, who scored 140 points, whilst Stephen Kellogg trailed in third.

Meanwhile, the ‘B’ category saw Rashed Al Jowder jump into first ahead of Hisham Al Othman during the first race, whilst the tables turned leaving Rashed Al Jowder to trail in third in the second race behind Hisham Al Othman, first, and Raed Himmo.

However, it was not in vain, as Hisham Al Jowder succeeded in his mission of extending his lead of 152 points ahead of overall second place diver Raed Himmo, who sits in second with 137 points whilst Hisham Al Othman stands in third place with 119 points.

With such a nail-biting fourth round behind the drivers, the race is set for today as drivers in both categories prepare to set the track ablaze yet again in their penultimate meeting.

Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who leads category ‘A’, will be racing in his Honda Civic, whilst Time Birkin goes head-to-head in a Honda Integra. Brothers Hamed and Ahmed Kuzbar will sport a Ford Focus as Stephen Kellogg takes his spot in a Honda Civic. Chris Rabie opts for a Renault Clio Sports as Hussain Karimi will be racing in a Honda CRX and Alex Edwards goes with a BMW 3.

As for the ‘B’ category competitors, Raed Himmo will be driving a Honda CRX, whilst Hisham Al Othman takes on a Honda CRX and Rashed Al Jowder races in a Honda Civic.

The event which has been organized by the Circuit Racing Club (CRC), in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF), is sponsored by the BIC. Fans of all ages are welcome to attend with tickets priced at two dinars for adults and one dinar for children between the age of 3 and 15.
