Bahrain International Circuit, ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, kick starts its action-packed programme for the new calendar year with the third round of the BIC 2000cc Challenge, taking place on Friday 7th January 2011.

The highly popular series , which was born and bred in Bahrain, is being organised by the Circuit Racing Club, which is under the umbrella of the Bahrain Motor Federation. The upcoming meeting will be held under the auspices of Bahrain International Circuit.
Racing action will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., giving the kingdom’s motorsport junkies a full day of events out at the track.
 
Taking place alongside the BIC 2000cc Challenge will be the third round of the National Sprints Championship.
Tickets to the event costs BD 2 for adults, and BD 1 for children aged three to 15 years old.
 
Set to take part in the upcoming round in Class A are Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in a Honda Civic, Tim Birkin in a Honda Integra, brothers Hamad and Ahmed Kuzbar in separate Ford Focus challengers, Stephen Kellogg in a Honda Civic, Chris Rabie in a Renault Clio Sport, Hussain Karaimi in a Honda CRX and Alex Edwards in a BMW Z3. The fierce competition in Class B will comprise Raed Himmo in a Honda CRX, Hisham Al Othman in a Honda CRX, and Rashid Al Jowder in a Honda Civic.
 
Heading into the 2010/2011 season’s third round, Ahmed Kuzbar leads Class A with 66 points. Birkin is second with 60, while tied for third place are brothers Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa with 50 points each. Rabie is fourth on 34 points, while Hamad Kuzbar is fifth with 15 points. In Class B, Al Othman and Al Jowder are tied atop the championship standings with 82 points apiece.
Himmo is in third place with 67 points.
